Laura Baer has practiced law in South Carolina since being admitted in September 2013, and previously practiced in Maryland following her graduation from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2010. While in law school, Laura was an editor of the University of Baltimore Law Review and inducted into the Heuisler Honor Society, made up of the top ten percent of the graduating class. Since 2019, Laura has represented companies and individuals across the state in a variety of civil litigation matters. She handles claims involving negligence, premises liability, false imprisonment, product liability, alcohol liability, assault and other torts. Laura also has experience handling insurance coverage matters, including coverage opinions and litigation, and civil and criminal appeals. She has successfully defended her clients in a variety of cases in South Carolina state court and the United States Federal District Court.
Laura attended the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association’s Trial Academy in 2019. Before joining Crowe LaFave, Laura worked in civil defense litigation at another Columbia firm. Prior to that, Laura spent nearly four years as an Appellate Defender at the South Carolina Commission on Indigent Defense, handling over two hundred direct appeals and post-conviction relief appeals before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and South Carolina Supreme Court.
